This kickoff event brought together people of all ages who share a common commitment to protecting our natural surroundings.
DESFA volunteers and their families joined hands with active community members from the Kerkini Sports Association and the Mountaineering Association of Sidirokastro. Working side by side along the shores and surrounding areas, the team spent the day clearing discarded waste and restoring the natural beauty of the lake.
While the enthusiasm on the ground was inspiring, the day’s results highlight both the urgency of our mission and the power of collective action:Over 4,620 liters of trash collected and removed from the natural environment. Waste like this should never end up in our rivers, forests, or lakes in the first place. Every plastic container, packaging piece, and discarded item removed is a step toward healthier soil, cleaner water, and safer wildlife habitats.
A heartfelt thank you to DESFA, its dedicated employees and their families, as well as the local associations of Kerkini and Sidirokastro for setting such a inspiring tone!
This cleanup is just the first stop of our 2026–2027 journey across Greece. Stay tuned as we continue bringing communities together in the months ahead!
