After an intense summer with over 20 clean-up initiatives They are taking care of their country coast by coast, from the ports of Al-Mina to Tripoli and Barsa Al-Koura. The work is hard, but the will is strong!
Environmental activist Samah Zeila from Beirut has created a unique path for women in environmental work. She challenges stereotypes and believes that real change starts with individual action and grows into collective effort.
Environmental action is not just for institutions or experts — it is open to anyone with awareness and passion, and who believes that change begins with one person and expands through cooperation. Whether through awareness campaigns, volunteer work, or environmental policies, these efforts are key to building fairer, healthier, and more balanced societies in harmony with nature.
With her team We4all-Lebanon, Samah organized a big cleanup campaign at the fishermen’s port, the largest in Lebanon. Volunteers removed large amounts of marine waste, including different kinds of plastic, dead fish remains, nylon bags, tents, ropes, and other debris such as cork and sponges.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness in the local community and to protect marine life from pollution, especially plastic waste, which is one of the biggest threats to marine ecosystems and biodiversity.
Fishermen also joined in, taking part in discussions about keeping the port clean and protecting the sea. The Mayor of the Port Municipality, Mr. Abdullah Kabara, along with council members Mr. Rashid Issa, Mr. Rudy Hanna, and Mr. Bisher Dabj, visited to show their support, as did local environmental activists.
The We4all-Lebanon team thanked all the volunteers from across Lebanon who helped make the campaign a success, as well as Lavajet for transporting the collected waste, and the Lebanese Army for its support and cooperation.
These cleanup campaigns will continue until November, covering more locations such as the fishermen’s port, the public swimming pool, the sandy beach next to the naval base, as well as other beaches and islands that will be announced later.
